Obituary

Georgeann Sapp was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida as she was returning home from a trip to The Magic Kingdom at Disney World. She was 59 years old. Born on June 4, 1965 in Dublin, Georgia, Georgeann was the only child of George and Louann Dickerson Sapp.

As a child, Georgeann and her parents moved back to George's hometown of Jasper, Florida to be close to family, instilling in her an almost idyllic childhood with grandparents around to spoil her! As football coach's daughter, Georgeann was the mascot for the football team. Growing up, Georgeann took dance lessons and her love of dance continued through high school, where she was a majorette. While she got her love of football from her father (Go Dawgs!) she got her charm and grace from her mother and grandmother. She was the epitome of southern charm and tenacity.

Georgeann loved her people and if she loved you, you knew it. Her lifelong friends have shared her love of creating events, putting people together, or simply looking for her next adventure. Georgeann loved planning her next trip - whether to the North Georgia Mountains, on a cruise, her next shopping trip, to the Caribbean or just simply to her beloved beaches on Amelia Island, Georgeann was always excited for her next chapter. To know her, was to be swept up in her excitement of whatever was next!

Georgeann was a teacher at heart, having received her Master's in Education at Valdosta State University. Georgeann taught special education classes in Douglas and Eastman Georgia and the Jasper, Florida school systems. She was a force to be reckoned with for her students and loved being in the classroom. Georgeann advocated for her kids as if they were her own and constantly created special memories for each of her students - even attending graduation parties after she retired. Georgeann loved her fellow teachers and would often talk of how much fun they had in and out of the classroom.

Georgeann was the "Queen of Sparkles". If you could make something fun, she could make it epic. If you had an idea for a simple celebration, you better believe she was going to show up and show out. Georgeann's people were her life. If she loved you, you were in her heart at all times. She was a giver. She gave you her time, her immense talent and her joy. One of her greatest gifts was in caring for her father. She made sure "King George" was fed every morning at T-Rays, cooking his favorite meals, including him on excursions with her friends. She loved him to the moon and back.

Georgeann's greatest gift was her love of Jesus and her Baptist upbringing. There is no doubt that when she arrived at the pearly gates, she had a line of people waiting to hug her neck. Georgeann was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, First Baptist Church of Jasper, Florida, and since retiring to Amelia Island, she was a faithful attendee of First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach.

Georgeann was preceded in death by her mother Louann Dickerson Sapp and her grandparents, JD and Mildred Sapp and Reesa Dickerson.

She leaves behind her father, George Sapp of Fernandina Beach; various cousins and family members, and countless friends. If you measure a life by the number of friends one has, Georgeann was blessed beyond belief.

Georgeann's funeral will be held at First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at First Baptist Church beginning at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest with her mother at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
