Guadalupe Ortega, age 79, of Jennings, FL. passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at his home following an illness of some time. Guadalupe was born in San Augustine De Valdez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on December 7, 1935 to the late Gavino Ortega and Emilia Degollado.
Guadalupe farmed all of his life and passed his hard work ethic on to his children. He was preceded in death by his son, Procoro Ortega; several brothers and sisters, Rafael, Rutilo, Eugenio and Manuela;
grandson, Felipe Lopez.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Pureza Ortega of Jennings, FL.; children, Manuel Ortega (Manuela) of Monterrey, Mexico, Eloina Ortega of Jennings, FL., Nina Concepcion (Jose) of Jennings, FL., Emilia Weldon (Michael) of Valdosta, GA., Guadalupe Ortega Jr. (Hope) of Statenville, GA., Gavino Ortega (Kaitlyn) of Lee, FL., Jaime Ortega of Jennings, FL., Maria Brown (Fletcher) of Pinetta, FL., Ruben Ortega of Jennings, FL.; brothers, Gavino Ortega and Ricardo Ortega; two sisters, Maria De La Paz Ortega and Antonia Ortega; 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A special niece, Ramona Alvarado of Atlanta, GA., special nephew, Chavelo Ortega (Francisca) of Conroe, TX; Uncle Daniel Medina (Lidia) of Atlanta, Ga.; special friends, Victoria Cervantes of Jennings and Luz Aguilar of Lake Park, GA.; cousin, Lupe Castro (Maria) of Immokalee, FL.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Watts officiating.
Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
