Guadalupe Ortega Jr. passed away on May 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia, after a long and hard battle with cancer.
He was born on March 10, 1980, in Naples, Florida, to Guadalupe Ortega Sr. and Pureza Ortega. In 1989, the family moved to Jennings, Florida, where Guadalupe was raised and later graduated from Hamilton County High School Class of 1999.
Guadalupe had a bigger-than-life personality. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone willing to listen. He was a hardworking construction worker who loved working alongside his family at OCC Construction before becoming ill. He was outgoing, loved cracking jokes, and could quote lines from his favorite movies and television shows with ease. He also had a special love for animals, especially his goldfish and roosters.
This past February, he married his longtime partner of 15 years, Hope, whom he loved dearly. Along with his wife, Guadalupe deeply loved his close-knit and large family.
Guadalupe loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Bethel Church of God in Lake Park, Georgia.
Survivors include his loving wife, Hope Ortega of Statenville, Georgia; his children, Marissa, Jollissa, Kayden, Prócoro, and David; his mother, Pureza Ortega of Jennings, Florida; two brothers, Manuel Ortega and his wife Manuela of Mexico, and Gavino Ortega and his wife Kaitlyn of Madison, Florida; four sisters, Eloina Ortega of Jennings, Florida, Nina Concepcion and her husband Jose of Jennings, Emilia Weldon and her husband Michael of Valdosta, Georgia, and Maria Brown and her husband Fletcher of Jennings, Florida. Guadalupe is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews including Your Boys, Star Fox, and Crazy Buddy as well as 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Ortega Sr., and his three brothers, Procoro Ortega, Jaime Ortega, and Ruben Ortega.
Services for Guadalupe will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Bethel Church of God in Lake Park, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida.
Guadalupe will be remembered for his joyful spirit, his love for family, and the laughter he brought to everyone around him. Though his time here was far too short, the love and memories he leaves behind will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
