Obituary

Helen

Helen Jeanette McCulley Miller was born at home on July 4, 1937, in Jennings, Florida to Leonard and Jewell (Greene) McCulley. On July 21, 2025, she passed from this life to life eternal, safe in the arms of Jesus.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Jewell McCulley, her brother James McCulley, her daughter Sharon Lee Jackson and her husband Ted Miller.

Helen grew up on the family farm in Jennings, working and playing with her three brothers. She graduated from Jennings High School in 1955. After graduation, Helen moved to Jacksonville, where she met and married John Lee. They were blessed with two daughters. Sharon was born in Jacksonville in 1958, and Beverly was born in Fort Lauderdale in 1959. As a family they moved frequently. They lived for about a year in Denver, Colorado. They lived in Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Rockledge and DeBary. Helen spent many years in the banking industry, starting out as a teller and working her way up to branch manager. She worked in banks in DeBary, Oklahoma City, Madison and Jacksonville. Helen was an extraordinary cook and a wonderfully talented baker. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She taught her daughters to sew and embroider.

In 1980 Helen moved to Oklahoma City when her first grandchild was born. On  July 1, 1984 she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Then in 1987 Helen finally moved back to the farm.

Helen was a member of the Jasper Woman's Club, Mainstreet Hamilton County, and Order of the Easter Star. For many years Helen was a devoted member of the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church of Jasper, Florida.

In 2001 Helen met Ted Miller and they married soon after… really soon. She was a loving and devoted wife. Helen and Ted enjoyed countless hours sitting on the back porch. Ted would re-tell his many stories, and Helen would laugh at the appropriate time.

In the sunset years of their life together, they enjoyed each other's company. They loved the precious time spent with their families and were always glad to have friends and family stop by for a visit. Many times, the visit would take place on the back porch.

Helen will be missed. Her wonderful meals and delicious cakes will also be missed. The memories made will be cherished, as will the recipes.

Left behind to mourn her loss and rejoice in her home going are her daughter Beverly (David) Catir, DeLand, Florida; her 6 grandchildren: Adam (Susanne) Catir of Melissa, Texas, Samuel (Carolyn) Catir of Bloomington, Minnesota,  Zachary Catir of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,  Valerie (Darrin) Koehler of Winter Springs, Florida, Tyler (Leah) Jackson of Wildwood, Florida, and Clay (Mandy) Jackson of Eustis, Florida; Helen's great grandchildren, Charlotte and George Catir, Eli and Noah Catir, Everett and Emie Koehler, Aubrey and Sydney Jackson, Riley,  and Colbie and Marlie Jackson; Helen's stepdaughter, Sarah Miller (Ralph) Deas  and their four sons, Matthew, Jacob, Caleb and Luke; and 5 great grandchildren. Helen also leaves behind two brothers, Tommy (Elaine) McCulley, of Ormond Beach, Florida and Donald (Cheryl) McCulley of Ijamsville, Maryland. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved grand dog, Toby, who she sometimes called Pedro.

Helen's Life will be honored at a funeral service on Monday, July 28th, 2025, at Corinth Baptist Church, 7042 SW 41st Ave. Jasper, FL at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held just before the service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
