Hillard Tanner, age 73, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Baya Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City, FL.

Hillard was born in Nicholls, Georgia on July 22, 1945 to the late Lester and Jennette Tanner. Hillard served his country in the United States Army and was retired from the Hamilton County Landfill where he was a heavy equipment operator for many years. Hillard live most on his life in Jasper and graduated from Hamilton County High School. He loved the farm and loved collecting what might be junk to others but became treasures to him. He was a man of integrity and loved his family. At a young age his parents were killed in a car accident and Hillard took on the responsibility of making sure the younger siblings had what they needed.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Tanner; three sons, Vernon Tanner and his wife Melissa, Clayton Tanner, and Shane Tanner and his wife Stacy; one daughter, Dana Stewart; his three brothers and three sisters; also surviving Hillard are those that call him "Papa", Autumn, Jacob, Izak, April and Shawn.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
