Mr. Hiram "Larry" Sanders, Sr., age 71, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. Mr. Sanders was born July 13, 1942 in Troy, Alabama to the late Fred and Emily Strickland Sanders. He was an electrician by trade and worked for many years with the local IBEW electrical union. Larry had a strong love and respect for the outdoors, enjoyed the company of good friends (of which he had many), the laughter of a child, and cherished his family above all else on this earth. He was a musician and a master story teller. He was our Father, our Brother, our Pappy, our Uncle, our Cousin, and our Friend. He will be sorely missed by all those whose hearts he touched and now leaves behind.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Sanders (Kathryn) and Larry Sanders (Krissy), all of Valdosta, GA.; three daughters, Missy Hewett (Eddie) of Dasher, GA., Becky Royals (Chris), Lake Park, GA. and Lena Blades, Valdosta, GA.; two brothers, Jock Sanders (Rhonda) and Earl Sanders, all of Valdosta, GA.; one sister, Evelyn Weaver, Oxford, GA.; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Per his wishes, Mr. Sanders will be cremated.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Redland Baptist Church, 4888 Rocky Ford Road in Valdosta, GA 31601.
