IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Homer Lee
"Skipper" Edmonds
October 21, 1938 – March 22, 2020
Homer "Skipper" Lee Edmonds, Sr., 81, a long time resident of White Springs, FL passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 surrounded by those who loved him. Homer, Sr. was born in Spartanburg, SC to the late William Calvin "W.C" Edmonds, Sr. and Eunice Gosnell Edmonds on October 21, 1938.
Homer, Sr. grew up in South Carolina and resided there until the early 60's when he moved to Homestead, FL with his wife Ruth. Homer, Sr. drove a semi for several years before moving to White Springs, FL and opening Edmonds Restaurant with his family. From there Homer, Sr. joined the Department of Agriculture where he later retired. He liked to stay busy so if he wasn't working he was spending time with his family, tending to the farm, tending to his crops, or volunteering at the Genoa Fire Department where he once held the position of Fire Chief. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing in Horseshoe, although he did not do much of it in his final years. Homer, Sr. was a devoted and long time member of Suwannee River Church of the Nazarene in White Springs and looked forward to attending Camp Meeting every year at the Suwannee Holiness Camp located just behind his church. He was a man that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Always willing to lend a helping hand, and if he couldn't do that he was happy to "supervise".
Homer, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents William Calvin "W.C.", Sr. and Eunice Edmonds; his brother William Calvin "W.C." Edmonds, Jr.; his sisters Carrie Smith, Gladys Barnwell, Louise Ledbetter and Margie Gunter; and great grandson Gabriel Edmonds.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ruth Holloway Edmonds; his daughter Pam Edenfield (Steve); his son Homer Edmonds, Jr. (Wendy); four grandchildren Tiffany Buonvino (Bryan), Heather Evans (Chad), William Edmonds (Devon Lee) and Matthew Edmonds; five great-grandchildren Maximus, Jakub, Alekzander and Abigale Buonvino and one on the way (Evans).
Homer, Sr. was an amazing husband, father, all around family man, and friend. He will be missed dearly but this is not good bye it's see you later. Until then enjoy fishing in the sky.
A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be sent to Suwannee River Church of the Nazarene located at 18763 SE County Rd. 137, White Springs, FL 32096.
