IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Imogene Murphy
Hart
August 31, 1942 – March 3, 2025
Imogene Murphy Hart, 82, of Jasper, FL, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 31, 1942, to Hubert and Hazel Murphy, Imogene lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family and community.
A member of Corinth Baptist Church, Imogene and her loving husband, Tommy Hart, built a life together rooted in faith, love, and dedication. Together, they developed and operated H&B Quail Farm in Hamilton County, FL. Tommy took pride in mentoring young farmhands, and Imogene made sure those hardworking hands were always well-fed and taken care of. She cherished farm life and found joy in supporting her husband and family in that way.
As the seasons of life changed, Imogene found herself called to serve in other ways. She became a familiar and friendly face at Hitchcock's Foodway in Jasper, where she served the community with a smile for 10 years. Later, she worked as the secretary at Corinth Christian Academy, where for five years, she nurtured and supported the students and staff with her warmth and kindness.
After 54 beautiful years of marriage, Imogene had to say a temporary goodbye to her beloved Tommy. Though the loss was heavy, she remained dedicated to keeping their farm running, carrying on the legacy they built together. Imogene found joy in her music, often listening to the cassette tapes she had lovingly compiled herself. She also took great pride in maintaining her yard, mowing it herself with her zero-turn mower until 2020, when illness made it too difficult to continue.
Imogene faced a battle with cancer with courage and grace. She overcame it, emerging victorious in healing, but embraced a slower-paced life afterward. Even then, her love for family and the simple joys of life never wavered.
Imogene is survived by her daughters, Cindy Hart Burnett (Craig) of Jasper and Sandy Hart Nichols of Keystone Heights, FL; her two sisters, Linda Carter (Bill) of Jennings and Cheryl Burnett (Tom) of Jasper; and her brother, Buddy Murphy of Jennings, FL. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Colby Burnett (Karae), Jared Nichols (Jessi), Ciera Burnett, and Cory Burnett (Jo); as well as nine great-grandchildren, Kerrigan, Logan, Luke, Colton, Preston, Carleigh, Leandra, Wade, and Annsley. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her infant son, Steve Douglas Hart, her parents, Hubert and Hazel Murphy, her sister, Emma Hart, her brother-in-law, Don Hart, and her husband of 54 years, Tommy Hart,
The family will honor Imogene's life with a graveside service on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Jasper, FL.
Imogene's legacy of love, strength, and dedication will forever be cherished by those who knew her.
