Obituary

Imogene "Jean" Phillips left this world on June 12, 2024, after a brief illness. Jean was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, on February 24, 1936, to Anna and Elmo Stanley. While living in Clintwood, VA, she met and married Donald Phillips, and they had two sons. She called Virginia home for several years before she and her family moved to central Florida.

Jean was a devoted housewife and mother who dedicated her time to raising her sons, Donnie and Richard. After moving to Jasper and with her youngest son in high school, she continued her education and became a registered nurse. She began her nursing career at Suwannee Valley Nursing Home in Jasper and later retired from the VA Hospital in Lake City, FL, after 25 years of service.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Elmo William Stanley and Anna Marie Barnes Stanley, her husband, Donald Eugene Phillips, and her youngest son, Richard Eugene Phillips. Survivors include her oldest son, Donnie Phillips (DeeDee) of Middleburg, FL; her sister, Barbara Bandy of Jasper; her granddaughter, Annie Simms (Caleb); her niece, DeAnna Gist (Bobby) of Valdosta, GA; her nephew, David Bandy (Cathy) of Lake Butler, FL and special friends Milton and Vickie Knighton.

Jean will be remembered for her great love of animals, especially dogs. She was a talented quilter, enjoyed crocheting, and anything to do with sewing. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and television. She cherished her quiet time pursuing her interests.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
