Obituary

James A. Carter, Sr., age 84, Jasper, FL. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park, FL. following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held  Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.



James was born in Jacksonville, FL. on June 16, 1932 to the late John J. and Jennie Barber Carter. He was an electrician by trade. Mr. Carter was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL. and later moved his family to Lake City where he raised his family. Upon retirement Mr. and Mrs. Carter moved to Jasper. James served his country in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean Carter; two sons, Kenneth Carter and his wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, FL. and James A. Carter, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Palatka, FL.; one daughter, Rhonda Livingston and her husband Steve, Jasper, FL.; one brother, Jack Carter and his wife Flora; five grandchildren, Stephenie, Paula, Joshua, Dylan and Olivia; and one great granddaughter, Ava; many nieces and nephews also survive.
