IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Elmer
Cribbs
June 28, 1956 – March 20, 2025
James Elmer Cribbs, 68, of Jasper, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2025, following an extended illness. Born on June 28, 1956, in Jasper, he was the son of the late Isom Dewey Cribbs and Sarah Mae Cribbs. James was raised in Fargo, Georgia, and it was there that his deep love for the outdoors and community took root.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, James shared 30 beautiful years of marriage with his wife, Wanda K. Cribbs. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, love, and hard work.
James dedicated 42 years of service as a first-class mechanic at Nutrien, where he was known for his expertise and unwavering work ethic. He also served his community with pride and commitment as a member of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Posse for nearly a decade.
His passions in life were as strong as his character—James found joy in fishing, hunting, tending to his cows, and spending time on his tractor. A true outdoorsman, he felt most at home under open skies. He also spent many years building and racing cars with his brother, Allen Cribbs. The "Cribbs Brothers Racing" team, and the iconic yellow #37, became a familiar and beloved sight at the track.
A faithful member of Higher Heights Christian Fellowship in Fargo, James lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep loyalty, and an unshakeable love for his family. Perhaps his most treasured role was being "Grandpa" to his grandchildren, especially his little buddy, Chase. After the tragic loss of his daughter, James and Wanda made sure Chase was surrounded by love, guidance, and the kind of care only a grandfather like James could give.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Melvin Allen Cribbs, Elton Cribbs, Willard Cribbs, and Dewey Allen Cribbs; his sisters, Nellouise Cribbs Ellis and Mary Alice Cribbs Guess; his children, Bryan Gregory Cribbs and April Michelle Cribbs; and his granddaughter, Alexandria Lee Cribbs.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Wanda K. Cribbs; his son, James "Jason" Cribbs (Becky) of Jennings, FL; his brother, Dennis Lamar Cribbs (Karen) of Jasper; his sister, Ima Jean Knowles of Fargo; and his sister-in-law, Melinda Gayle Padgett (Sanket) of Jasper. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: James Keith Cribbs, Katlyn Paige Cribbs, Bryan Gregory Cribbs, Jr., Levi Padgett Jr. (Sarah), Hailey Cribbs, Kailey Cribbs, Macie Rae Padgett, and Chase Baker; his great-grandson, James Remington Cribbs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The immediate family would like to extend a special thanks to his niece, whom he adored, Mikaila Cribbs Croft, for all the help and support she gave, especially over the last several days.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate James' life will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. A viewing will precede the service at 1:00 p.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home.
James Elmer Cribbs will be remembered for his strong hands, kind heart, and a life well lived in service to others and love for his family.
