James "Mack" Dampier, age 73, of Lake City, FL. passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Avalon Health Care Center in Lake City, FL. following a lengthy illness.
Many in the community will remember Mack as a real craftsman. He took on small and large building and remodel projects for people all over town. Mack had a winning personality when he wasn't trying to get in to some mischief. He knew he had the support of his mother who loved him until her dying day. In his later years when he needed help, Mack found he had a friend in his step-son. He went to live with Neal and his family for several years before his health declined to a point where he needed more help than could be given in a home setting but while he was here he was able to share some special time with Neal and was there for the birth of his grandchildren.
Mack served in country in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his brothers, Joe, Robert and Paul Dampier; step-son Neal Wachob and his family.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home.
