James Wiley Hunter, age 88, of Jasper, FL. passed away at his home Monday, May 9, 2011 following a lengthy battle with cancer. The Hamilton County resident was born in Statenville, Georgia to the late Joe and Rosa Hunter. He was one of eight children. James Wiley worked and lived in Hamilton County and was a United States Marine who served his country during World War II. In 1944 he married Inez Watson and in 1953 they moved their family to Central Florida to the Ocoee-Apopka area. He retired as a mechanic for the City of Apopka in 1988 and moved back to Hamilton County in 1993. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Inez, his son Randall and all of his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Ann Hadamuscin (Joe) of Apopka, FL., Mary Catherine Pike (Ed), Jasper, FL. and Carolyn Sue Hunter, Jasper, FL.; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Belle Hunter, Dothan, AL.; he also leaves behind nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home. Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery near Jasper.
