Born and raised on a humble farm in Jasper, Florida, James exemplified resilience, hard work, and kindness from a young age. His childhood was filled with stories of fixing tractors, raising livestock, and sharing hearty dad jokes, traits that endeared him to everyone he met.
After graduating from high school, James spent two years at the University of Florida as an engineering student before proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, where he protected against missile threats on Ascension Island and traveled to Brazil, where he met his beloved wife, Maria. His passion for flight and dedication inspired many, including his time in Wichita, Kansas, where he completed his Bachelor's degree. He spent over a decade in Kansas and learned the true meaning of "flying high" in the Midwest.
James retired at the age of 75 and chose to spend his golden years in South Florida, near his family, cherishing every moment. His presence was a beacon of love and generosity, and his legacy will continue to inspire so many.
James was a devoted husband of 62 years to Maria, a loving father to Raymond (Childa) Lawson, Frank Lawson, and Eva (John) Murphy, and a proud grandfather to Teddy, Sam, Maddy, and Chloe.
