James Wyatte Maulden, age 86, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at Shands Hospital in Live Oak, Florida. Mr. Maulden was born in Opp, Alabama on November 18, 1921 to the late James and Medie Johnson Maulden. He retired as Chief Petty Officer Maulden from the United States Coast Guard and went on to complete a second career and retired as a Lieutenant from Cross City Correctional. Mr. Maulden was a member and deacon at Cross City First Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Joe Maulden, Sr. and a grandson, Bobby Joe Maulden, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Josephine Guthrie Maulden, Live Oak, FL.; three sons, James N. Maulden, Live Oak, FL., Donald W. Maulden, Sr., Wellborn, FL., and John P. Maulden, Sr., Live Oak, FL.; two daughters, Sarah Jo Tillman, Live Oak, FL. and Rosemarie Smith, White Springs, FL.; one sister, Willie Mae Gordon, Gulf Shores, AL.; 20 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 26 at the First Assembly of God Church in Live Oak, FL. Interment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.
