James Franklin Pittman, Jr., age 98 of Jennings, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 1, 2023 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper, FL.  James was born on February 26, 1925 in Hamilton County to the late James F. Pittman, Sr. and Ida Jackson Pittman. James married the love of his life, Juanita L. Holton in 1948 and they celebrated 70 years together just prior to her death in 2018. James and Juanita had four children together, two sons and two daughters. James was a farmer by trade which was what he absolutely loved doing. He also worked for Occidental Chemical Company from 1965 to 1993 and enjoyed gardening and working in his yard after retirement. James was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as a deacon there for 44 years. He also devoted much time and effort into keeping up with the records for the cemetery at New Hope as well. James was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a friend, witness, and Christian example to so many in his 98 years and was deeply loved.

James was preceded in death by his wife Juanita and son Greg Pittman. Survivors include one son, Gary Pittman and his wife Gloria of Jennings, FL; Tammy Moffses of Jennings, FL; and Angela Akerman and her husband Mark of Hoover, AL; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandson.

All arrangements are under the direction of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home of Jasper, FL. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday August 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5th at 3:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
