James "Bo" Webster Saffles, age 72, of Live Oak, FL. passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
Bo was born in Gadsden, Alabama on April 24, 1948 to the late Frank and Zadie Patterson Saffles. He found his way to White Springs, FL. and was taken in as family at the Atkinson household. They changed his life and his path forever, offering love and guidance each step of the way.
He joined the United States Army in the early 60's. He did two tours in Vietnam earning 8 bronze service stars and a purple heart. As was with so many, the war was not kind to James. His life was forever marred by what he saw however, he remained faithful to his country and was proud of his contribution. Following his years in service, Bo worked as a truck driver as long as his health allowed him to do so.
Bo is survived by a daughter Star and her husband Dwayne Fisel; two grandchildren, DJ and Marley Jane; his nephew, Dewey Atkinson; his ex-wife in whom he entrusted his last wishes to. Also surviving are close friends, John and Alicia Davis who so graciously took him into their home in his last days to find peace and solace during his transition from this life to the next.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Huntsville Church Cemetery in Columbia County. His friend Alicia will be conducting the service.
