Jerry Joseph Butts, age 77, of Jasper formerly of Seminole, Florida passed away December 6, 2018 at Gainesville, Florida. Jerry was born in Springfield, Ohio on April 14, 1941 to the late James Horatio Butts and Mary Catherine Lones. As a young man he served his country in the United States Army. Jerry retired with 29 years' service to Pinellas County as Water System Distribution Manager and again following 6 years with the Pinellas County Schools. He and his wife moved to Jasper in 2004 from Seminole, Florida and quickly made friends with the neighbors and soon the folks at Jasper First Methodist Church. Jerry had a profound love of animals and enjoyed music, taking up guitar lessons after moving to Jasper, which led to his other hobby - collecting guitars. He was predeceased by Michael Eugene Butts and Phillip James Butts.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lesleigh Laite Butts, sons James Howard Butts (Christine) of Jasper, Michael Alan Butts (Crystal) of Palm Harbor and stepson Bryan Theodore Butts; grandchildren: Christina, Nichele, Jerry J., Ryan, Kyle, David, Jason, Chelsey, and Ethan, and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Jasper, FL. with Rev. Missy Turbeville officiating.  The family will receive visitors prior to the service.

Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to ASPCA P.O. Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929 which is the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals.
