Jesse James Smith, age 87, of Jasper, Florida passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Suwannee Healthcare in Live Oak, Florida following an extended illness. Jesse was born in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Clifton and Minnie Rickerson Smith and was a retired dairy farmer. Mr. Smith served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Suwannee Station Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Smith; three sons, James Darrell Smith, Jasper, FL., Jerry Francis Smith, Alma, GA., and Jesse Wilson Smith, Cartersville, GA.; one daughter, Janice Ann Lauer, Jasper, FL.; two sisters, Martha Ann Wiggins, Thomasville, GA. and Florene Steptoe, Douglas, GA.; thirteen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper.
