Jesse "Teddy" Gilbert Caruthers Jr.

Jesse G. Caruthers Jr., 71, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born on October 29, 1954, Jesse was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, public servant, and man of steadfast faith. He spent many years in the cattle industry, proudly served his community as a County Commissioner for 12 years and was a faithful member and elder of the Live Oak Christian Church for 44 years. He was known by those who loved him for his humor, contagious smile, generous heart, and strong convictions. He stood for what was right, cared deeply for others, and found joy in sharing both his time and the bounty of his farm with family, friends, and neighbors. While his absence will be deeply felt, his family takes comfort in knowing that Jesse is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with his wife of 45 years, Lillie Nell Caruthers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Caruthers; mother, Shirley Caruthers; father, Jesse Caruthers; stepfather, Gene Touchton; sister, Karen Caruthers; brother, Buddy Hines; and stepbrothers, Tim and Terry Touchton.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Jackie (Jeff) and Misti (Nigel); six grandchildren, Jessica (Reese), Lillie (Edgar), Sarah (Tristan), Jordan, Jaylin (Noah), and Matthew (Blake); ten great-grandchildren, Maverick, Stella, Royce, Maks, Millie, Sadie, Archie, Billie, Teddie, and Hadley; siblings, Bill Hines, Janice Soloman, Lisa Overton, Rod, Jan, Jimmy, Buddy, and Robert Touchton, and Cher Robinson; stepchildren, Charles, Jimmy, and Brandy; and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Live Oak Christian Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Caruthers Family Cemetery.
