Jessie Gladys Corbett Davis, 99, of Jasper, Florida, passed away on September 6, 2014, at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper.

Services were held on September 8 2014, in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Smith officiating.  Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Jasper, Florida.

Gladys was born February 3, 1915 in Lake Park, Georgia, to the late Ewell Franklin Corbett and Sarah Cornelia Hires Corbett.  She was the oldest of 7 children and when her mother passed away at the age of 40, Gladys assumed the task of raising her younger siblings.  She was a member of Bright Pond Baptist Church and had a strong faith in God.  She was a homemaker and was very dedicated to her family. Her life's calling was taking care of children as she did a great job of taking care of her siblings, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Howell "Harry" Davis, her parents, one brother, James Gordon Corbett, and two sisters, Connie Register and Mary Edna Tomlinson.

Survivors include 3 sisters and sister-in-law:  Lucille Petty, Myrtice Hales (Huston), Helen Sears and Ruth Corbett (James' widow).  Gladys is also survived by four children:  Carolyn Burnham (Ray), Walter Howell "Harry" Davis Jr., Barbara Jaeger (Ralph) and John Davis (Sheri); nine grandchildren:  Lynn Hill (Kenneth), Cissy Pritchard (Don), Tommy Davis, Robin Marcano, Tracy Deas (Westley), Charissa Jaeger-Sanders (Chris), Hallie Davis, Luke Davis, and Chris Alfonso; and seven great-grandchildren:  Leslie Whiddon (Chad), Phillip Hill, Zachary Hill, Walt Pritchard, Thomas "TJ" Marcano, Jaden Deas and Brooke Davis.

Gladys will be remembered for her deep faith in God, her unfailing love for all of her family, and her welcoming, loving spirit to all who visited her home.  She was a wonderful cook and was known to cook more than was needed for family meals so that she would always have food available should her family bring home friends or should family or friends stop by.
