IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jewell Holton
Mcgrath
July 14, 1924 – March 7, 2020
Jewell Gandy Holton McGrath, age 95, of Jasper, FL. passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, FL.
Alma Jewell Gandy was born July 14, 1924 in White Springs, FL. to the late W.C. and Cleo Williams Gandy. She married Dueward Holton who was one of our World War II veterans. The two welcomed a son, Dueward Hal Holton, Jr. in 1944. Times were hard and Jewell knew the meaning of hard work. She was fortunate to find a solid job doing secretarial/bookkeeping work for the late John C. Camp. She learned a great deal working for Mr. Camp and put that to good use. She was knowledgeable of all the latest happenings in Jasper even in the late stages of her life. Jewell loved her family and tried to make sure all boxes were checked when it came to having things in order. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. Jewell was preceded in death by husbands, Dueward Holton and Clarence "Mac" McGrath; her son, Hal Holton; her sister, Edna Stewart; and her brother, Sonny Gandy.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law and caretaker, Ruby Holton; her sister, Jackie Register (Loyd); two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services were held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Haven Hospice, 6037 West U.S. Hwy 90, Lake City, FL. 32055.
