Jimmie Lee Ferns, age 88, former resident of Perry, FL. passed away Monday, June 8, 2015 at Shands Live Oak Hospital in Live Oak, FL. She made her home at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper for the last 15 years but was an active part of the Taylor County community most of her life. Ms. Ferns was a secretary by trade and worked at Southside Baptist Church in Perry until her retirement. She was previously employed at Doctor's Memorial Hospital and Pinkerton Lumber Company. Ms. Ferns was preceded in death by her husband, Foley Ferns and her son, Frank "Ruben" Ferns. Jimmie was a longtime member at Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Ginny Poppell of Perry, FL. and Tricia Grantham of Jasper, FL.; her daughter-in-law, Charlotte Hammond; four grandchildren, Matt Brown (Christina), Suzannah Ray (Chris), Marcie Ferns and Miranda Richardson (Keith); a host of great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church in Perry, FL. officiated by Rev. Gary French and Rev. Jack Anderson.
