Wanda Joanne Young, age 88, a former resident of Hamilton County, FL. passed away on Saturday evening March 21, 2020 at Fellowship Home in Valdosta, GA.

Joanne was born on September 5, 1931 in Hamilton County to the late Leon Earl and Grace Rebecca Tyre Scaff. She grew up on the farm with her brother, two sisters and cousins galore. She learned to love and enjoy all of God's creations at an early age. Flowers were her particular favorite. She enjoyed the beauty and fragrance of flowers in the yard in the spring and fall of the year. She married Aubra E. Young and left the farm to travel all over the world. When they started their family, the travels just became adventures for her and the children. She had an open-door policy for their friends and extended family and her kitchen was always available for a snack or hot meal. World traveler that she was, Joanne remained a farm girl at heart from Hamilton County. When they returned and made this their home, they joined New Hope Baptist Church. This is where she would take her children and teach them what it meant to be a servant for the Lord. She enjoyed singing so beautifully in the choir. She was an extraordinary example of a Christian wife and mother. Grace was one of her God given attributes, as was her outward beauty. "Brown Eyes" was one of the many pet names given to her. It aptly described her for it was the love and kindness in those beautiful big brown eyes that everyone was immediately drawn to. Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Aubra E. Young in November of 2007, and later her brother John Allen Scaff and her sister, Kitty Beck.

Survivors include her three children, Rick Young (Christine), Laura Young Dees (Trammel) and Brett Young (Cindy); her sister, Ellen Deas; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Ashley Tyree officiating.

Joanne loved flowers and the family is receiving flowers at the funeral home or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 6592 NW 48th Street, Jennings, FL. 32053.

In keeping with the current Covid-19 Virus restrictions there will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
