Obituary

Joe Peacock, beloved husband, dedicated father, and respected veteran, passed away on April 21, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on April 30, 1950, in Sparks, GA, to James and Mattie Lou Peacock, Joe's life was one of service and love.

Growing up in the Assembly of God Church, Joe's deep-rooted love for Jesus was evident throughout his life. He served his country with honor as an Army Veteran and later embarked on adventures overseas, working on oil rigs before dedicating many years to the Coggins family at what was Coggins Farm Supply in Hamilton County.

Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures of farm life on his small home farm. He raised quail for over 20 years. Whether it was nurturing his quails and peacocks or tending to his cows, goats, and sheep, Joe found peace in farm life.  However much he loved his life on his small farm, Joe's greatest love was his family. Alongside his devoted wife of 31 years, Kathleen Peacock, Joe worked tirelessly to provide for and nurture them.

Joe leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer Deas (Daniel), of Valdosta, GA.  And four stepsons, Lorne "Jay" Smith of Jasper, Michael A. Smith (Terri) of St. Augustine, FL, Teddy "Daniel" Smith Jr. (Daphne) of Baker County, and Zachary "Derek" Smith of Jasper, FL, all of whom he cherished deeply.

Joe will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Mary Nell Young of Jasper, Ruby Daniels of Jasper, and Dianne Stapleton of Valdosta, GA, and his sisters-in-law, Fay Peacock and Jane Peacock. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through his 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He also had a special little buddy, his great-grandson, Finnegan Louis.

In joining his brothers Elwood, Edgar Aldene, Elton Jr., Bob, John Ruben, and Jerry Lamar Peacock, and sister Mildred Bellflower in eternal rest, Joe leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a profound impact on all who knew him.

A funeral service to honor the life of Joe Peacock will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with a time of visitation at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will immediately follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
