John William Acree, II, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in Jasper, FL, on Friday, March 22, 2024. He was born on February 24, 1945, in Lake Wales, FL, to loving parents John and Mildred Acree.

As a young man, John proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army with dedication and honor. Stationed in Germany for three years with the Army Corp of Engineers, he contributed his skills and commitment to service. Upon returning home, he began a successful entrepreneurial journey, establishing his own sign business in Largo, FL. Specializing in maintaining signs for large corporations, John demonstrated his ingenuity and work ethic in his endeavors.

John was a man of many talents, but perhaps his greatest passion lay in his love for hunting and fishing. From serene waters to the quiet forests, John found joy in the simplicity of life's pleasures.

Throughout his life, John was a steadfast resident of Lake Wales, deeply rooted in his community.  However, as his health declined, he made the heartfelt decision to relocate to Jasper, FL to be under the loving care of Vonnie Griffin Wood.  Vonnie and her late brother, Junior Griffin, shared a lifelong bond with John, having grown up together. Their bond was akin to that of siblings, strengthened over years of shared experiences and mutual affection. John's niece, Mimi Pallaraes, who affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Daddy" also relocated to Jasper, to help care for him.  She and  Vonnie provided unwavering love and support, ensuring he was always well cared for during his last months.

John leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories.  He is survived by his three sisters: Betty Jane Acree of Utah, Rosemary Rea of California, and Irene Herndon of Lake Wales, FL, as well as his brother, Eddie Acree (Debbie) of California. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched with his warmth and kindness.

A funeral service to honor the life of John Acree will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, at 11 a.m. at the Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. Prior to the service, a time of visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
