John Henry "Bill" Hurst, age 82, of Live Oak, FL. passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Suwannee Health Care Center in Live Oak. Mr. Hurst was a native and former resident of Jasper, FL. born on March 23, 1931 to the late Wiley and Geneva Allen Hurst. He was a retired school teacher at Hamilton County High School where he taught mechanics.  Bill enjoyed listening to and playing gospel and bluegrass music. He was preceded in death by his parents and most recently a sister, Pauline Hogan.

Survivors include nine children, Daniel Hurst (Emily), Carroll Hurst, John Hurst (Nita), Edward Hurst (Cynthia), Billy Joe Hurst, Caroline Murrah, Patricia Vinson (Walt), Diane Langford and Donna Sue Tharp (Waylon Smart); one sister, Dorothy Vanosdol; 19 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill is also survived by the mother of his children, Margurette Hurst.

Funeral services were held  Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Shaw officiating. Interment followed at Union Baptist Church Cemetery near O'Brien.
