John Robert Register, Sr., age 79, of Echols County, Georgia passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 following a brief battle with cancer. John was a lifelong resident of Echols County except for the brief time he spent serving his country in the United States Navy. Always a known to be a hard worker, Johnny worked when and where there was work to be done. Many will remember him from the time they spent in his barber chair or others may remember the 12 years he served as coroner in Echols County. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Sesh and Cordie Register, his sister Betty Waldron, his son Nicky Register and brothers-in-law, Roy Waldron, John Courson and William Sims.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jean Franklin Register; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah Register of Lake Park, GA.; sisters, Helen Courson, Valdosta, GA., Nannie Beth Lawson (Howard) of Morven, GA., Maxine Carter (Billy Allen) and Mary Lou Carter (Charlie) all of Echols County; numerous nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes Johnny will be cremated.
