Obituary
Joseph David "Joe" Smith, age 57, of Jasper, FL. passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Shands Live Oak following a lengthy illness. Joe was born on April 2, 1958 in Valdosta, Georgia to proud parents William "Billy" and Myrtle Robinson Smith. He graduated from Hamilton County High School and went on to get his degree at North Florida Junior College. He was a carpenter by trade and was a hard worker until he developed a serious condition due to the handling of building materials he worked with on a daily basis. He worked diligently to overcome it but it eventually forced him into early retirement. Joe was as cantankerous as the day is long but was a likable person and always had his handful of faithful friends and former co-workers. Joe was preceded in death by a brother Bobby and his daughter Brandi Dukes.
Survivors include one daughter, Jazmyne Smith; his loving and faithful parents, Billy and Myrtle Smith; one brother, Marvin Smith and his wife Gussie; all of Jasper, FL.; two grandchildren, Morgan and Logan Dukes and a host of extended family.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 27, 2015 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home. Interment followed at Prospect Cemetery near Jasper.
