IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Carl
Zipperer
May 24, 1932 – April 2, 2025
Joseph Carl Zipperer, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 92. A longtime resident of Jennings, Florida, Joseph was born on May 24, 1932, in Lake Park, Georgia, to Joseph and Annie Zipperer.
Known by many in the community as the "Transmission Man," Joseph was a skilled and passionate mechanic. He dedicated 32 years of his career to Bruce Glueck Chevrolet, in Jasper, FL, where he earned the trust and admiration of coworkers and customers. Even after retirement, he could often be found doing what he loved most—tearing down and rebuilding transmissions, always eager to learn, fix, and perfect.
Outside the garage, Joseph found peace and joy in nature. Whether casting a line on the water or tending to his beautiful yard, he took great pride in the simple pleasures of life. His love of fishing was matched only by his devotion to keeping his lawn crisp and his flowers in bloom, reflecting his appreciation for beauty, order, and care.
Joseph was a member of the Pentecostal Deliverance Center in Jennings, where he found peace and comfort in his faith. He lived his life with diligence, integrity, and a heart for his family.
He is survived by his son, James Wallace Zipperer (Ruth Ann) of Machesney Park, IL; his daughters, Mechell Zipperer (Sergio Alvarado) of Jennings, FL, and Darlene Evans of High Springs, FL; and his grandchildren: Stephanie Zipperer, Sue Thornburg, James Wallace Zipperer Jr., Mark Moore, Becky Moore, Samuel Evans, Aaron Evans, Myra Fisherman, Carsen Maxey, Jack Osborn, Jessica Thomas, Joseph Zipperer, and R.J. Murphy. Joseph also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his great-grandchildren: Peter Moore, Autumn Moore, April Moore, Kelly Moore, Ariel Zipperer, Erin Zipperer, Rachel Coleman, Sara Coleman, Lydia Thomas and a great, great-grandson, Azarion Kyles.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sisters: Mildred, Thelma, Lottie, and Myrtle.
