Joyce Elaine George (Hahn) passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in Lake City, Florida.

Joyce was born on April 22, 1941 to Merle and Inda Haskins Hahn, and met the love of her life, Oliver Gene George at just seventeen years old. They were married on May 27th, 1959 and spent 63 years together. Joyce found joy in gardening, yoga, and fellowship at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Joyce's greatest joy, however, was surrounding herself with family, and she lived a life in which she did just that. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to an extensive family, all of whom she took great pleasure in caring for and spending time with. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle Hahn and Inda Haskins Hahn, siblings, Evelyn Hahn Davis, Jack Hahn, Hubert Hahn, Dean Hahn, and Alice Hahn Myers, her children, Howard Welsh and Kara George, and her grandson, Kyle Welsh. She is reunited with them now in Heaven.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Oliver Gene George; her daughter, Karen (David) Gaylard; her son, Jay (Dee) George; her brother, Edward (Mary) Hahn; her grandchildren, Dustin Welsh, Tara Baker, Barry Welsh, Kara George, David Gaylard Jr., Hannah George, and Addie Harrell; great-grandchildren, Dakota Welsh, Devin Welsh, Demi Welsh, Tylar Baker, Hunter Denmark, Jayde Baker, Kayleigh Denmark, Nora Welsh, Paisley Wilkerson, and Evelyn Welsh.

Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
