Joyce Carter Rye (Hill), age 82, of Jennings, FL. passed away on September 12, 2021 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper, FL. following an extended illness.

Joyce was born in Echols County, Georgia on May 29, 1939 to the late Louis and Minnie Owens Carter. She was a homemaker most of her life. She moved from Madison County, FL. to Jennings some twenty years ago when she married her husband Lamar Hill. She loved living on the farm and being able to get out in the yard and enjoy working with her flowers. Joyce loved children and enjoyed the fresh insight they naturally bring to life. She was a member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Jennings and attended as long as her health permitted. Joyce was predeceased by her daughter Mary.

She is survived by her husband, Lamar; her children, Barbara Iverson of Virginia, Gordon Lamar Hill "Buddy" (Vanessa), Jennings, FL.; Sharon Paula Hall (Patrick), Sabastian, FL., Lisa Ann Cleghorn (Travis) LaBelle, FL. and Vicky Roberts Hill (Marvin) of Jennings, FL.; her brother, Bill Carter (Linda); her sisters, Betty Shackelford, Margie Lee (LaRue) and Helen Cecil; one grandchild.

Memorial services were held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Jennings, FL.
