IN LOVING MEMORY OF
J.W.
Hunter
October 22, 1933 – March 10, 2021
William "J.W." Hunter, Jr., AKA Ole Dock, age 87, of Statenville, GA. passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
J.W. was born in Echols County, GA on October 22, 1933 to the late "Son" and Dollie Deloach Hunter. As a young man J.W. worked at Evans Products and drove a truck for a while. He was a veteran of the United States Army. That being said, if you knew J.W. Hunter, you knew he was way more. He loved to hunt better than he loved to breathe and a fish didn't stand a chance on the other end of the pole. Ole Dock was a master story teller. His stories were always bigger than life which made them the best ever. He loved his family and was fiercely protective them and they were fiercely protective of him as well. He gave his grandchildren full reign of the house "most" of the time but when J.W. gave them "that look" they knew it was time to hit the yard. He got his way most of the time and one wish was to be reunited with the love of his life, Mary Ann and on March 10, 2021 at 10:20 a.m. he was granted his one last wish.
Survivors include his son, Billy Hunter of Statenville; his four daughters, Connie Poole (Willie) of O'Brien, FL., Diane Dempsey (Pat), Madison, FL., Latrice Bennett (Carroll), Valdosta, GA. And Elaine Vann (Bobby), Statenville, GA.; one brother, Orvis Hunter, Cow Creek and two sisters, Billie Jean Weaver, Warner Robins, Ga. And Rosa Castleberry, Statenville, GA.; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
