Katie "Maureen" Waters, a beloved figure in the Jasper community, passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on January 22, 1935, to Handy and Francis Williams in Luraville, FL, Maureen grew up with a spirit of warmth and generosity that would define her life.

Maureen's life was marked by unwavering dedication to her faith, family, and community. As a member of Harvest Fellowship Church, she found peace and strength in her spiritual convictions. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond the church walls and into her renowned establishment, H&F Restaurant in downtown, Jasper, FL. For an impressive 43 years, Maureen poured her heart and soul into the restaurant, creating a haven of hospitality and southern cooking. Her fried chicken and homemade bread pudding were legendary, enjoyed by all who were fortunate enough to taste them.

Outside of the kitchen, Maureen found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly tending to her garden and spending time with her cherished family. Despite her aversion to cattle farming, she faithfully helped her husband, Wilbur, with the cattle, a testament to her boundless love and unwavering support.

Maureen shared 60 beautiful years of marriage with Riley until his passing in 2012. She is survived by her devoted sons, Donald "Wayne" Waters (Cat) of Lee, FL, Riley "Wendell" Waters of Lee, FL, and her daughter, Wyonas Elaine Cribbs of Jasper, FL. Her memory is also cherished by her sisters, Carolyn Winifred "Wimpy" McCulley of Jennings, FL, and Ruth Cribbs of Jasper FL, as well as her grandchildren: Crystal Leeman, Jason Cribbs, Bryan Cribbs, April Cribbs, John Waters, Dale Waters, Desiree Rester, Whitney Griffis, Jennifer Kinsey, and Jacob Waters, along with 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Maureen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Riley Wilbur Waters, her son, Wesley Wilbur Waters, her brothers, Donald and Jimmy, and her sisters, Judy, Annell, Mary, Iris, and Billy.

A graveside service to honor Maureen's remarkable life will be held on Friday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church, Jasper, FL.
