IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Cone
Fletcher
December 3, 1941 – October 9, 2022
Larry's Obituary submitted by family:
Larry Cone Fletcher passed away on the evening of Sunday, October 9th to his heavenly home surrounded by his loved ones, after enduring a long battle with nerve damage and the increasing long-term effects of war injuries and PTSD. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Larry was born and raised in Hamilton County, growing up in Jasper and working from a very young age; he was well-known by many, made acquaintances easily, and remained a true and loyal friend to those who knew him. In June of 1966, he married his best friend, Teresa "Terri" Fletcher. He spent a year in Vietnam, serving his country with the distinction of a combat medic in the US Army, working out of the 85th evac hospital, and wherever he was needed. The nature of his character showed through in this position--a most altruistic act of consideration for his fellow men and their safety and survival. This deep dedication, bravery and patriotism never left him, his friends and family will attest.
He later worked as an EMT, carrying on his calling of helping people in his hometown, and as an integral part of the local propane service industry. He also played a major role in the local go-kart track at Crossroads, involving his children and those he loved in a sport that sparked his passion and love of community. Those who knew him will remember him laughing, joking, albeit honest and no-nonsense, but always willing to have your back and display generosity to anyone in need. The later part of his life was spent beautifully with his children and family; watching them grow, being there for the big moments (and small ones) good or bad, and taking a close part in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all adored and looked up to him. They and all of their friends over their lifetime have referred to him as "Pepa."
Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Teresa "Terri" Fletcher; a son, Troy Alan Fletcher (Nina); a daughter, Gloria Jean Fletcher; daughter-in-law Candy Marie Cone; and his close friend who was like a brother to him, Wade Murphy (Renee). Five grandchildren, Casi Kapadia (Sunny), Robyn Morse, Dallas Fletcher (Lashley), Samantha and Josh White. Four great-grandchildren, Adalyn Kate McCoy, Romee Nova Kapadia, Eve Hendrix Kapadia, Silas Cole Morse, and one on the way, along with many other extended family and friends
A Graveside service was held on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Edgar Wood officiating.
