IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Douglas
Williams
March 18, 1956 – June 7, 2023
Larry Douglas Williams of Hamilton County, Florida went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his children.
He was born March 18,1956 in Clearwater, Florida to the late Grover and Marguerite Williams. At an early age, his parents instilled in him a strong faith in God, skills in carpentry and a good work ethic. Throughout his life he ministered not only through sermons, but also with his skills in construction. In DeSoto County, Florida he was instrumental in the construction of the sanctuary and fellowship hall for the Fort Ogden Church of God and the fellowship halls for Arcadia and Brownville Church of God.
In 1995, he and his father, along with a team of other tradesman, built a church in Wheatfield, Arizona as part of the Southwest Indian Ministries. The church was completed in just four days. A year later, Doug, along with his sons, returned to Arizona and poured the foundation of the Sunday School rooms and fellowship hall for the same church.
On September 2, 1999, his life changed forever, when he fell 29 feet and broke his neck while working on a home in Bonita Springs, Florida. Becoming a quadriplegic would have devastated most people, however, he turned this trial into a ministry amongst the residents of each nursing facility and hospital he visited. Daily, he would "Grab A Cup of Joe" and share some "Food for Thought" on his social media. Many followers have expressed to the family how this touched their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Walter Dale Williams, Daryl Glen Williams and Daniel Royce Williams.
Survivors include his children, Deonna Keller of North Fort Myers, Florida, Dawn Bonham (John) of Fanning Springs, Florida, David A. Williams (Heidi) of Arcadia, Florida, Darren Williams (Tara) of Valdosta, Georgia, and Darla Williams of North Fort Myers, Florida; his brothers Warren R. Williams (Dianne) of Panama City, Florida, Mark Weir (Jackie) of Trinity, Florida, and John DeMotto (Amy) of Live Oak, Florida; his sisters Janice Schiltz (Andy) of Jasper, Florida and Diane Ackerman (John) of Morristown, Tennessee; his bonus mom Carolyn Williams of Jasper, Florida; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 at the West Lake Church of God in Jennings, Florida with internment to follow at the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 3:00 pm.
