Obituary

Lawrence Hampton, age 62, of Jasper, FL. passed away on June 14, 2019 following a brief illness. Lawrence was born in Suwannee County, FL. to Clarence and Marion Hampton. He lived most of his life in Hamilton County and was known by just about everyone. He worked for many years as a correctional officer with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and later went to work for the Department of Agriculture as an Ag Officer. More recently he could be seen most any day working as the produce manager at Foodway. He never met a stranger and it was this asset that served him well throughout his career. Lawrence loved his family and was a good provider all of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother Marion.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Vicky Izell Hampton of Jasper; his son, Steve Hampton (Candace) of Jasper; his daughter, Stacey Hampton Burnham (Christopher) of Jennings; his father, Clarence Hampton of Jasper, FL.; two sisters, Mary Ann Tomlinson (Roger) of White Springs and Patricia Lang (Steve) of Lake City, FL.; his mother-in-law, Ruby Izell of Jasper, FL.; two grandchildren, Shaylyn Hampton and Brianna James and one grandchild "on the way".

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper with Bro. Steve Redman officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
