Lester Hawthorne Carruth, age 79, of Jasper, FL. passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at Shands U.F. in Gainesville just one day after his 79th birthday. Mr. Carruth was born in Ocoee, Florida on September 8, 1934 to the late Luther Washington Carruth and his wife Laura Brown Hawthorne Carruth. Lester had been a resident of Hamilton County since 1972. He retired from Florida Power after 37 years of service as a lineman and service man. He was a Benefactor Member of the NRA and Honorary Member of the Florida Sheriff's Association. Mr. Carruth was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years, Jean E. Carruth; three sons, Stephen Carruth (Sheila), Michael Carruth (Catherine) and Glenn Carruth (Eloise).; one brother, Lonnie Carruth; one sister, Lou Emma Carruth; a beloved sister-in-law, Carolyn Michaels; one nephew, two nieces; five grandchildren; three great- grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

Per his request Lester will be cremated.
