Obituary

Lt. Colonel Shelton Otis Mitchell, US Army (Retired), of Jasper, FL. passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his home following an illness of some time. Shelton was born on October 6, 1920 to the late William Stewart Mitchell, Jr. and his bride Annette Wetherington Mitchell. He retired from a lengthy career in the United States Army where he was the recipient of numerous awards for his determination and dedication to his country.
He spent 45 years in Albany, Georgia where he migrated into Real Estate Development as a successful second career. Mr. Mitchell was a Mason and a Shriner and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Live Oak, FL. In 2006 he was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Eileen Robarts Mitchell.

Survivors include one son, Stephen "Steve" R. Mitchell and his wife Irene, Albany, GA.; one daughter, LaJuana Mitchell Peterson of Jasper; three grandchildren, Shelley Dehnel (Dorian), Christopher S. Mitchell (Ashley) and Paul D. Peterson (Cathy); two great grandchildren, Annalise Dehnel and Shiar Dehnel.

Services were held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Live Oak, FL.
Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery in White Springs, FL.
