amie Lee Marlow Simmons, age 91, of Jasper, FL. passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, FL.
Mamie was born in Lee, Florida on March 12, 1927 to the late Columbus Jasper Marlow and Cloria Jayne Flowers Marlow. She met and married the late Gordon Simmons and they shared 53 beautiful years together before his passing in November of 1995. Mamie worked for 18 years in food service at Hamilton County Middle School before retiring to watch the red birds from her porch. Mamie had enough personality for two people. She enjoyed the life that God so richly blessed her with. Her life revolved around her four children and grandchildren. She was sustained by the personal relationship she had with Jesus Christ through some difficult days but she knew her faith would carry her through. She was a faithful member of Pentecostal Deliverance Center in Jennings, FL. Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Simmons, her grandson, Robby Stout, her brother, Curtis Marlow and two sisters, Francis Harry and Dollie Mills.
Survivors include her three daughters, Shirley Cox (J.D.) of Lake City, FL., Gail Stout and Janice Williams, both of Jasper, FL.; one son, Robert Gordon Simmons, Jasper, FL.; her brother, Sidney Marlowe (Debbie), Jasper, FL.; her sister, Helen Evans (Leon), St. Augustine, FL.; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 4, 2018 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper officiated by Pastor Edgar Wood, assisted by Mamie's grandsons Tim Stout and Bentley Cox Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
