The obituary has been added to this website as a courtesy to the Clardy/McCabe/Cruse families. "The Clardy Girls" have always been very near and dear to this community. Their parents were always active in the First Baptist Church in Jasper and when John and Marcie returned to the farm in Jasper, they immediately returned to her roots at First Baptist Church and became much beloved members. Marcella Clardy McCabe Cruse, age 88, of Jasper, FL, died peacefully at The Canopy in Lake City, FL, on April 25, 2023.

Born October 1934 in Wauchula, FL, to the late Tay and Irvin Clardy, she grew up in Jasper, FL. She attended Florida State University and studied Music Pedagogy before moving to Jacksonville where she met naval officer, Billy E. McCabe. They married in 1958 and moved to Virginia where they lived until he retired from the Navy. In 1977, Bill, Marcella (Marcie) and their 2 children moved to Oklahoma City, OK where she was involved in her church choir and raising her children. After 26 wonderful years of marriage, Bill McCabe preceded her in death in 1984. In January 1990, she married John D. Cruse in Oklahoma City, and lived there until 2015. They moved back to her original homestead in Jasper, FL where they both were active members of the First Baptist Church, Jasper. She loved her family farm and spending time with her sisters.

Survivors include husband of 33 years, John Cruse; sisters: Pola (Dick) Sidney, Linda (Jeff) Rush, and Diane (Wilber) Rye; children: Michael (Jeanna) McCabe, and Erica (Dennis) Clement; John's children: Cindy (Bill) Crow, Dorothy Keefer, and T. Dean (Kelly) Cruse. She is also survived by her nieces: Clare VanEtta, Susan (Jim) Kent, and Kate (Philip) Minton; grandchildren: LynnAnn (Will) Duniven, Tasha (Ben) Teel, Alyssa Crow, Kenneth Crow, Justin (Sierra) Cruse, KaLea Keefer, Mikaela McCabe, Jansen McCabe and many great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. Along with Bill McCabe, Marcie was preceded in death by John's son, Sam Cruse.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Baptist Church -Jasper, FL, on July 1st, 2023 at 11 am.
