Obituary

Marcus Allen Bozeman, age 69, of Jasper, FL. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. from a sudden cardiac arrest.

Mark, a native of Panama City, FL. was born August 18, 1953 to the late Huey Bozeman and Geraldine Hartzog Bozeman. He lived most of his life in Panama City with the exception of being away in the military. As a young man, Mark enjoyed playing baseball, boxing, weight-lifting, teaching martial arts and kickboxing. Upon meeting his wife Susan and seeing the serene life-style that living away from the city brought, he came to enjoy Hamilton County where there was camping, canoeing and hiking. He would often take off for the weekend on an excursion down the Suwannee River or a good long walk-a-bout along the trails in the nearby countryside. Mark was a man of few words. He was a Godly man but did not feel the need to boast his knowledge of the Bible but that big Bible of his held hundreds of notes he had made alongside the scriptures he would be studying. He was a warrior but did not go around bragging about his service. He was a Gulf War Veteran and had served his country proudly and honorably for seventeen years, sharing time in both the United States Army and the United States Marines. He was proud of his country and fiercely protective of the nation and the rights that he and so many men fought for and where many lost their lives. He received numerous service metals and held many letters of recognition some of which his family only became aware of in recent days since his passing. He retired from Lake City VA Hospital where he worked out his government career serving in several positions over a span of nearly 15 years. Mark and his wife Susan worshipped together at Christ Central Ministries in Lake City, FL. A true hero does not have to broadcast to the world his accomplishments in life, for his reward comes at the end of the day when he lay his head on his pillow and can thank his God for saving his soul, the souls of his family and that his family rest in the assurance that when he drew his last breath here on earth that he was already in the arms of Jesus. He was greeted by his father Huey and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Drew and Juanita Grantham.

Mark is survived by his wife, Susan Bozeman of Jasper; his children, Jacob Bozeman (Thalia) of Bradenton, FL., Jessica Alterman (Dan) of Petersburg, VA and C.J. Bozeman (Sierra) of Jasper, FL.; his mother, Geraldine Bozeman of Panama City, FL.; his sister, Debi Etter of Panama City, FL.; his five granddaughters, Lavera, Autumn, Makayla, Hazel, and Raven and his only grandson, Slade. Several nephews and nieces, Rob, Jason, Adam, Jeanann, Bobbie, Joshua, Whitney and Tiffany and their families. Numerous great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving is Mark's sister-in-law and Susan's sister and best friend, Ann Lessman and his brother-in-law, Buddy Grantham.

Memorial services were held on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. with military honors.
