Maria Esther Castillo, age 65, of Jennings, FL. passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home in Jasper, FL. with interment at Sassers Landing Cemetery near Jennings.

Maria was a native of Wharton, Texas born on February 10, 1952. From a very young age she made herself responsible for her family. Through determination, perseverance and with the motivation of love for her family she climbed the ranks in the agricultural industry as a renowned and respected female crew leader. Many in the community can attest not only to her strength in leadership but to her giving and kind nature. She led with a firm hand and soft heart.

At home Maria was the matriarch of an extended family whom she loved fiercely and dedicated her life to. She joked and laughed often and loved much. She will be missed, remembered and kept close to the heart by all who knew her.

Survivors include one son, Jesus Castillo, Jennings, FL.; two daughters, Abelia Lopez, Jasper, FL. and Joanne Roque, Jennings, FL.; one brother, Erasmo Hernandez and one sister, Antonia Hernandez; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
