Marjorie Jones Dedge, age 92, of Jasper, FL. passed away early on Sunday morning, May 13, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Marjorie was born in High Springs, FL. on June 14, 1925 to the late Johnny and Nettie Greer Jones. She graduated high school and went on to attend Massey Business College. She soon met and married John Berrian Dedge (Sr.) of Jasper, FL. Marjorie went to work at Occidental Chemical Company soon after the company came to Hamilton County. Following her retirement from Occidental, she went to work for the Hamilton County Superintendent's Office for Superintendent Fred Greene and Superintendent Owen Hinton until she decided to retire from public work altogether. Marjorie was a faithful member at First Baptist Church in Jasper where she worked tirelessly teaching Sunday School and Training Union. She was always interested in all of the ministries at the church but was especially interested in supporting the children and youth ministries as she watched her children and grandchildren grow to love the Lord. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband John B. Dedge, Sr. in March of 1991.
Survivors include her son, John B. Dedge, Jr. and his wife Kary; her daughter, Kathy Dedge Smith and her husband Danny, all of Jasper, FL.; her brother, Casey Jones of Waycross, GA.; four grandsons, Branden Smith (Carolyn), Shannon Smith (Sonja), Bary Dedge and Kellan Dedge (Becky); five great grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, Brady, Foster and Aiden; four step-great grandchildren, August, Solomon, Raianna and Lela.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Jasper, FL. with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating. Her grandson Kellan Dedge offered the eulogy. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
