Obituary

Martha Nell (Williams) Butler, 75, of Jennings, Florida, went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 16, 2026.

Born on January 13, 1951, in Live Oak, Florida, Martha was the beloved daughter of Genevieve Loretta Roper and Alton Kendrick Williams. She grew up alongside her brothers, Del Williams (who preceded her in death) and Alton Williams. She graduated from Suwannee County High School in 1969, beginning a life marked by determination, leadership, and steadfast love for her family and community.

Martha, alongside her husband, was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated multiple businesses throughout her life, including The Jennings House Restaurant and Advantage Home Medical Supply. She also dedicated many years to education in Hamilton County, serving as a long-standing School Board member and later as Superintendent of Schools. Her leadership and servant-hearted care left a lasting impact on students, families, and educators throughout the community she loved so dearly. Above all else, Martha cherished her family and was grateful for God’s blessings through them.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Butler; her children, Jack (Maryann) Butler, Dee Anne Wheeler, Michael (Heather) Morgan, Patton (Jennifer) Butler, Brad (Meghann) Butler, and Brittany (Josh) Baldus; her brother, Alton (Diane) Williams; and her beloved grandchildren, Cassie Davis, Jordan Butler, Matthew Wheeler, Ella Wheeler, Anna Morgan, Addison Morgan, Logan Butler, and Emma Butler. She is also lovingly remembered by special family friend Don Patterson. She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Butler Jr., and her brother, Del Williams.

Martha loved deeply and lived fully, reflecting a quiet strength and a generous spirit. She found joy in tending her garden, sewing, playing the piano, preparing meals for those she loved, and doting on her beloved kitty cats. She especially treasured traveling the world with her husband, embracing new places and experiences and thanking God for the gift of life shared together.

While her family grieves, they do so with hope and comfort found in Christ and His promise of eternal life. Martha’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be missed beyond measure, yet her legacy will continue in the lives she touched and the faith and love she poured into her family.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Jasper First Baptist Church.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home will be handling all floral arrangements. Please have all flowers delivered to the funeral home by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026.
