Martha Dees Morgan, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home on May 8, 2026, surrounded in love by her son and daughter.

Martha had a lifelong love of academics, sports, art, and music. She was the Valedictorian of White Springs High School, Class of 1956, Miss White Springs High, and an exceptional basketball player. She married her high school sweetheart, J.M. Morgan and was a devoted wife for 61 years. Together they raised their children, Alan and Sherry on the Morgan family farm. She and J.M. shared a love of music and her beautiful alto voice was often heard in the duets they performed together.

Martha was meticulous, detailed, goal oriented, motivated, and organized in all she did. Whether at home, work, or church you could depend on her to get the job done at the highest level of perfection.

She was employed by the Hamilton County School District as a teacher’s aide at South Hamilton Elementary School and later as a job coach with Florida Diagnostic Learning & Resources System which supports students with disabilities. Martha obtained jobs for her students then personally trained each one how to do the job. She provided encouragement while instilling confidence, self reliance, and independence. She insured her students would have the lifelong skills needed for them to become productive citizens. Long after their schooling ended each would remember and love “Mrs. Martha”.

Martha’s beautiful smile could light up a room in seconds. Her natural grace, elegance, and self-assurance radiated in all she did. Her quiet strength combined with her sweet gentle spirit bespoke of her kindness, caring, and compassionate nature. She was the true essence of a southern lady with impeccable manners and supreme intelligence, remaining polite and a Christian in all situations.

Martha’s love and devotion to her family was immeasurable, and the only thing greater was her love of God. His love shined brightly in all she said and did. Her unwavering faith carried her throughout her life and provided a wonderful example to all who knew her. What a joyous day it must have been for her to hear God say “ Well done thy good and faithful servant”.

Martha is predeceased by her parents, Butler B. and Marie Dees, her husband, J. M. Morgan, her sister, Shirley Brannan and her Brother-in-law, Robert Brannan.

She is survived by her son, Alan (Rhonda) Morgan, White Springs, FL and her daughter, Sherry M. Bush, White Springs, FL; her grandchildren, Brandon (Holly) Bush and Morgan Bush; step-grandchildren, Kyle Head and Hailey Baker; Great grandchildren Wyatt and Trinity Hall. Siblings, Buddy (Anne) Dees, James (Juanita) Dees, Sister-in-law, Rheba (Ronnie) Lee, and many beloved nieces and nephews along with Special Caregivers, Verda Mathis and Kim Vick.

A funeral service for Mrs. Morgan will be conducted on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church of White Springs with Pastor Randy Ogburn and Pastor Josh Altman officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the church.
