Obituary

Mary Ann Barker, age 81, of Jasper, FL. passed away on May 10, 2016 at Shands Live Oak Hospital in Live Oak, FL.

Per her request Ms. Barker was cremated and will be buried beside her son Butch at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

Mary Ann was a native of Quitman, Georgia born January 1, 1935 to the late John Russell Barker and the late Nettie Warren Barker. She worked hard all of her life but managed to enjoy the finer things in life such as her great love of catching and cooking fish. When it was simply not possible to go fishing she found she could walk out into her yard and enjoy doing yard work and working with the many plants she so enjoyed potting. The biggest compliment anyone could pay her might also have been characterized as one of her biggest flaws and that was that Mary Ann stood up for what she believed in. If she was in your corner you might consider yourself "the winner". She was the matriarch of her family and was loved deeply. Mary Ann grieved the loss of her son Butch Browning in Feb. of 2000 but knew she must go on as difficult as it might have been.

Survivors include those dearest to her: grandchildren, Dusty, Jason and Zachary Browning and Shelton and David Moody; four great grandchildren and one great grandchild; daughter, Cathy Moody; former daughter-in-law, Sarah Hancock (Jaimy) who remained her closest friend and confidant until the end. Also surviving are her three sisters, Frances, Nadine and Betty.
