Obituary

Mary Alice Deas, born on September 23, 1936, in Valdosta, Georgia, to Alvin and Mary Lee Fletcher, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center in Jasper, Florida, surrounded by her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mary Alice spent her life in Hamilton County, Florida, where she raised her children and contributed to her community through her work at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center, from which she eventually retired.

Mary Alice found joy in life's everyday moments. She was an avid lover of arts and crafts and enjoyed the meditative process of word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She also cherished time spent fishing and sewing when she could. Her gentle spirit and artistic touch left a mark on those around her.

Mary Alice is survived by her loving son, Allen Deas (Jacki); her devoted daughter, Beth Sanders (Adam); her daughter-in-law, Alicia Deas; her sisters, Marian Parrish and Rosa Lee Touchton; her brother, Bruce Fletcher; as well as a host of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Mary Lee Fletcher; her brother, W.T. Fletcher; and her son, Garry Deas, whom she dearly loved.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Suwannee Valley Nursing Center and Community Hospice for the compassionate care and support given to Mary Alice during her final days.

A funeral service will be held at Burnham Christian Church in Jennings, Florida, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. Mary Alice's legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will forever be treasured by her family and friends.
