Obituary

Mary Kathleen "Kitty" Pollock Burnham, age 83, of Jennings, FL. passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA following a brief illness.

Kitty was born in Valdosta on May 24, 1937 to the late Arthur and Annie Pollock and was the last surviving child of eleven born into the Pollock clan. She married late in life but when she did, she married the true love of her life, Billy Ray "Bill" Burnham. Kitty was employed for many years as a seamstress at the Levi Strauss Company in Valdosta, GA. She formed many long-lasting friendships with her co-workers over the years. When she retired Kitty enjoyed working side by side with Bill in the garden and they canned their own produce. The two loved sharing their crops with friends and family as much as they enjoyed growing it, seldom did you leave their house without a bag of tomatoes, corn or some other vegetable or fruit they had grown. They loved stocking their pond and watching neighbors and family come over to enjoy fishing. She and Bill never had children of their own but enjoyed the many nieces and nephews they shared on both sides of the family. Kitty felt blessed and enjoyed shopping and gift giving. She learned to listen to people and remembered those conversations and before long she would purchase a gift that she thought you might treasure. Sadness overwhelmed her when Bill passed away in August of 2007 but she stayed active doing needlepoint and helping her niece make quilts that Kitty often gave away as gifts. She enjoyed getting out in the yard and mowing and working with her flowers as long as she was physically able to do so. Kitty was a faithful member of Burnham Christian Church as long as her health permitted. When her health began to fail, she conferenced with her nieces and nephews and she decided on her own to move to Suwannee Valley Nursing Center. While there, she enjoyed the company of many of her classmates from Jennings and enjoyed reminiscing about old times.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Ferrell Burnam, Janie Herring, John Lavoy Burnam and Betty Pollock.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Burnham Church near Jennings, FL. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
