Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating.


Mary Magdalene Young Naranjo, age 75, passed away at Carillon Assisted Living in Mooresville, NC on December 8, 2017. Mary was a native of Jasper, Florida, born on April 19, 1942, to the late Peter Lester and Marybelle Register Young. Mary was a homemaker and raised her family in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was a Sunday School teacher and active member at Cedar Hills Baptist Church and also enjoyed her many good friends on Larne Avenue. Later in life Mary returned to her hometown of Jasper, Fla to enjoy being near her precious family. She always treasured the time spent with her sisters and brothers, many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Mary was preceded in death by brothers, A.L. Young, Herschel Young, Norman Young and three sisters, Anita Young Coleman, Helen Young Goolsby and Sue Alice Young Fennell-Hill.

Survivors include daughter Ann Marie Naranjo Thompson and her husband Thomas W. Thompson of Mooresville, NC, daughter Monica Naranjo Pastrana and her husband Ray Pastrana of Oviedo, Fla, daughter Tamara A. Naranjo of Charlotte, NC, one brother, Dr. William Earl "Bill" Young of Tallahassee, Fl, and sister in laws, Joanne Young of Jasper, Fl and Irma Young of Metairie, La.

Mary is also survived by the joy of her heart, seven grandchildren, Amanda Thompson Bowen, Rachel Thompson Gleason, Daniel Lee Noyes, Lilliana Marie Pastrana, Christina Hope Pastrana, Dakota Talon Ramsay and Draven Cade Ramsay, and two great granddaughters, Parker Grace Bowen and Hazel Jane Gleason.
